freebie friday 2013 calendar
It is another freebie friday and what better time of year than to give you a desktop calendar. Each month measures 3 1/2 " square. Print out on letter size paper and if you have a corner rounder punch use that to finish off the look. Find yourself a little easel or put it in a dollar store lucite frame and maybe you can be more organized this coming year, if that is a new year's resolution of yours.

Sympathy for a friend
It snowed for Christmas here in the deep south ☃ and so I thought I would show you all an almost all white card I made while looking at a white christmas just like the ones I use to know up north.
The technique is called Double Texture Embossing by Dawn Olchefske www.youtube.com/watch
I like this layout with the swiss dot embossing folder and the oval frame with a pretty stamped image inside. This technique of not embossing all of the paper in order to leave room at the bottom for a stamped sentiment is great and so versatile.
Did you know that in Eastern cultures white is associated with mourning?

Freebie Friday Font
The holiday season is in full gear and I hope this finds everybody getting their cheer on!
I have been reading a book about fonts called "Just My Type" by Simon Garfield and have been looking through the fonts in my computer and decided to do a post on fonts for friday's freebie.
And to continue the celebratory theme (since we made it through the mayan end of the world prediction) AND we have so much to be thankful for I have included a link to a New Year Font.

Merry and Bright
As I was thinking about what kind of card I wanted to make for my Christmas cards this year, my mind was still on the glamour and glitz challenge.
So I whipped out my Lifestyle Crafts Letterpress equipment and using silver ink and silver rhinestones I played around until I found my christmas muse and it became merry and bright!
I love the debossed look of the dots from the letterpress plate on heavy weight, high cotton paper. I used my trusty silhouette cameo to make the sentiment and it's shadow and bada bling, bada boom the angels began to sing.
I will enter this card into the challenges for bling and texture.
A big thank you to Cissy for helping me find these challenges. Everyone must have a crafting girlfriend to share every craft idea that comes along!!!

Dwell in Possibility
Here is a card I made using my new Anna Griffin 18th Century stamps and my new SU designer frames embossing folder and punch.
The stamp was colored with copic markers Y15, R83, R85, BV02, BV31.
I went looking for a challenge to enter this card into; no easy task to find during the holiday season.
But I did find a couple that wanted bling, so out came the rhinestones and now it is good to submit there, an anything goes (love those challenges, so easy to enter) and a texture challenge cause I have some embossing on the card.
Here are the links: simplylessismoore , allsortschallenge, brownsugarchallenge, stampinfortheweekend

Freebie Friday bookmark
I know it isn't a project that has to do with the holidays, but I do like making useful projects, and if you print this out and dolly bird them up with glitter, tassels, or bling you might have yourself a nice little stocking stuffer for the book lover (if there still are people out there who enjoy the feel of books in their hands and not on an digital reader device).

Peacock Alley
Hello everyone,
I wanted to show you a card I made after finding this lovely peacock cuttlebug embossing folder on clearance at hobby lobby.
I used a couple of techniques on this card. I used the sandpaper technique on DCWV "white core" jewel colored cardstock after embossing the folder. The other technique was to run the sanded embossed card through the xyron (image side down) with the image receiving the adhesive and then once it was sticky applied glitter to the entire image.
The peacocks needed a little more pop than the sanding and glittering so I used my white galaxy marker to color in the peacocks. The background paper is some very pretty paper I bought at Paper Source.

Give them a hand
SHAME ALERT : I waited 4 years before I had my recent mammogram.
Two of my dear friends are surviving breast cancer and they have shared their stories of multiple surgeries both for tumor removal and reconstruction, about the exhaustion that comes with the treatments, buying wigs and what size their new breasts should be. They got me thinking that I haven't checked my breast in a long, long time.
I waited because I was mad that I had to pay the full amount for 2 mammograms (the original and a call back) just because I used my own doctor and he was out of the network for my employer's insurance.
This time I had to go back again for more views of my left breast. I can't tell you how scared I was.
I was so UPSET with myself for not having yearly checkups and now I could have had CANCER all this time.
Well to make a long story short, this time was normal too but whoa I went through all kinds of scenarios from writing a will to who was going to get which of my possessions.
Here is my card for Breast Cancer Awareness Month
I found this free bra digi here http://beccysplace.blogspot.ca/2012/10/breast-cancer-awareness.html
and entered it into the 2nd Annual Linky Party at Link Up for Pink a Breast Cancer Awareness Blog http://www.linkupforpink.com/, this Linky Party closes on October 14th.

Anna Griffin Card Kit
I have been watching HSN's 24 Hour Craft Day Event for um 24 hours and I have resisted buying another craft item because I have already bought in the past 2 different sets of Anna Griffin card kits on auto ship.
We just celebrated my mom's 90th birthday last Saturday and she got some lovely presents so I got out my Anna Griffin Thank You card kit and made this for the neighbor who gave her a pretty lap blanket and slippers.
By the time I got the photo downloaded from my phone to my computer and then onto here I just spent 60 dollars to get her 18th century garden stamp set. Oh well, lady willpower only held out for 20 something hours

Graham Rawle's "Lost Consonants"
For all you "wordies" out there here is a guy that has a funny idea, drop a consonant and it changes the whole meaning of a sentenence. The lost consonant series is seriously funny, if you like that type of thing. So I wanted to share my warped sense of humor with you my dear followers.

Decoupaged Red Sox Keepsake Box
As promised here are the pictures for 5 year old Will's birthday keepsake box.
His father is such a big Red Sox fan that he even proposed to his wife using the big screen method, thankfully she was in her seat and saw the giant proposal, not up out of her seat getting popcorn or going to the bathroom; but apparently he was very worried that she was going to miss it.
I am sure that if it was legal he would have conceived his children at a Red Sox game!

Decoupaged Princess Cigar Box
I wanted to give my little 5 year old great niece a "princess" keepsake box.
I used a cigar box I bought for a dollar at a local cigar store.
Well, after peeling off the paper labels, applying a base coat of gesso, a pink coat of paint, I needed to download some images of princesses so off I went to the Disney Wikipage, used their images, printed them on an ink jet printer used a fixative to prevent ink bleed, glued the images, after the images were dry I gave the whole thing a couple of healthy coats of mod podge to seal everything, added some major and minor bling and chipboard flowers, added some princessy items inside the box and finally holy hallelujah I was finished.
Stayed tuned for decoupage cigar box no. 2 a boy's keepsake with a baseball theme tomorrow.
